Giving Every Student Their Turn
As we approach our 20th year of operations, we have thought critically about the impact we have made and the needs that remain present in our community. We are celebrating this anniversary by growing our Rift Valley Children’s Village family, treating a record number of patients, and by DOUBLING the number of students we serve.
Since starting our model of public-private partnerships with the Tanzanian government to operate local schools, we have seen the powerful effects that delivering high-quality education can have on a community. Enrollment rates have tripled, nearly 100% of students graduate from our partner schools, and more students than ever are getting the opportunity to attend college and university.
While we have impacted thousands of students, we cannot forget about those at non-partner schools still waiting their turn. The kindergartners who still show up to school only to have no teacher in their classroom. The five students gathered around a single textbook because resources are so limited. The children who go through an entire day without any food because there is no school lunch program. The students who walk two hours home on an empty stomach.
Over the next five years, we are going to ensure that every student gets their turn. Through significant investments in our Education Program, we are going to provide the highest quality education to the entire Oldeani School District by partnering with two additional primary schools and building a residential campus at Oldeani Secondary School.
This investment will allow us to put a teacher in every classroom, give all students access to the nutrition they need, and ensure that no student has to put their safety at risk just to attend school.
While we invest in the futures of these students, we will also continue providing free medical care to 8,000 patients each year, micro-loans to local entrepreneurs, and a home to the area's most vulnerable children.
We need your help to make it all happen. Your support will give every student their turn.
