Celebrating International Women’s Day!

This year, in alignment with the 2025 International Women's Day theme, "Accelerate Action," we are doubling down on our commitment to overcoming systemic barriers and creating new pathways for women. When women have access to opportunities, they don’t just survive; they thrive. Marietha Shauri’s journey is proof of that.

Seventeen years ago, Marietha joined Rift Valley Women’s Group (RVWG), determined to build a better future. She wasn’t just looking for income—she was seeking independence. Like many women in her community, she had big plans, but without financial stability, they remained out of reach.

Through RVWG, Marietha gained the skills and confidence to turn her passion for sewing into a thriving business. Building on that success, she expanded into raising cattle, further strengthening her financial security. Today, her hard work has transformed her life. She has sent her second child to school—once an impossible dream—and installed a fully operational solar power system in her home, providing her family with reliable electricity and improving their quality of life.

Marietha is now a respected role model in her community, demonstrating that women are successful entrepreneurs, influential decision-makers, and dynamic change agents.

RVWG has been more than a business opportunity; it has been a network of support, mentorship, and encouragement. Her story is a testament to the power of opportunity. When women flourish, entire communities rise.

Since 2008, TCF has directly partnered with 28 women. Of these, 13 remain actively engaged with the group, while 15 have launched their own ventures, creating lasting change for their families and countless others. This International Women’s Day, we renew our commitment to accelerating action for gender equality—one woman at a time.
