Safe Housing for Students
When we started our partnership with Oldeani Secondary School in 2013, only 3% of students passed the Form 4 National Exam. Last year, 98% of the Form 4 class passed the National Exam and graduated from secondary school.
But we don’t just want students to pass their National Exams, we want them to thrive. We want every student that enters Oldeani Secondary School to leave with the knowledge and confidence needed to successfully take on the next chapter of their lives.
One of the biggest challenges facing students today is the walk to school. Most Oldeani Secondary students walk over two hours to school each day. In a country where 23% of all sexual assaults occur on the walk to school, this unmanageable commute puts our students at significant risk.
Over the next five years, we are going to remove this barrier to education. Next month, we will begin constructing our first dormitory that will house 96 Oldeani Secondary students and serve as the first step in transitioning Oldeani Secondary School into a fully residential campus.
We want to keep our students safe. We want to ensure that they have the capacity and support to focus on their studies. But we need your help to accomplish this.
It only costs $600 a year to provide a student with safe housing. $600 to keep one young girl safe. To give a student 3 nutritious meals each day and to provide the electricity that will allow them to study in the evenings.
With a donation of $600, you can ensure that one student thrives. We hope you join us as we deepen our impact like never before.
