Our New OSS Nurse

This summer, we are welcoming Richard Daniel, one of RVCV’s 102 children, to TCF’s staff! Richard is joining our team as the full time nurse for Oldeani Secondary School (OSS).

In 2017, Richard graduated from Hydum Medical School, where he studied nursing and midwifery. “I always wanted to be a doctor,” Richard explains. “I am happy, I get to save people’s lives,” he smiles. During and after his studies, Richard participated in various medical internships, where his passion for healthcare and medicine grew. In particular, Richard fell in love with the intense and rewarding work of the delivery unit. Conducting hundreds of deliveries, Richard led women through the various stages of labor. “I like being on duty, the responsibility,” he explains. “And I like babies,” he adds.

For being only 25 years-old, Richard is remarkably level headed and responsible. “Richard is an old soul,” Mama India explains. A role model to his younger siblings, Richard is excited to be working with secondary school students. “I am young, so I can relate to the students and communicate with them,” he says.

At OSS, Richard sees an average of 20 patients a week, students who drop by his office with an array of problems; abdominal pain, infections, malnutrition etc. He is dedicated to impacting the students’ lives. “I like making sure the students can reach their goals and succeed,” he explains.

Working as the nurse at OSS is the next step in Richard’s plan for a long and exciting career in medicine. “This job will help me grow and learn, see different challenges,” he says. Richard hopes to one day work as an anesthesiologist, as he is drawn to new challenges. “You have to be serious. The job is serious,” he remarks.

We are lucky to have Richard on board and are excited for his hard work!
