Empowering Young Minds To Thrive!
Every morning at 8:30 am, the sound of giggles and the pitter-patter of little feet can be heard gathering at the library steps of the Rift Valley Children’s Village (RVCV).
Danny Joseph, now three-and-a-half years old and full of personality, often comes barreling down the path with a smile that lights up the world. He greets his teachers with a heartfelt "GOOD MORNING!" and a big hug to start the day.
The students eagerly form a line and enter the library while singing and dancing to their favorite tunes. Danny, in particular, is brimming with excitement as he belts out "Five Little Monkeys Jumping On The Bed!”. After this energy boost, the Pre-K group heads into their classroom while the Toddlers stay in the library.
In July of 2023, TCF’s Early Childhood Care and Education (ECCE) Program implemented a brand new curriculum to better meet the needs of students. The curriculum focuses on three main areas: Numbers, Letters, and Themes. These are broken down into weekly topics and lesson plans designed by our incredible local ECCE teachers who, with the help of volunteers, run the program.
In the last six months, we have noticed the benefits of the new curriculum with students like Danny learning more and more every day! We can see the evidence of this in their improved literacy and numeracy skills, increased confidence, higher self-esteem, and better communication. All of our young learners are learning English as a second or third language, but their progress has been remarkable.
TCF is thrilled to be able to offer this program to 50 students this year including the youngest children of RVCV and the children of our dedicated staff.
Thanks to partners like you, we look forward to seeing all the growth and progress that comes with another year of empowering young minds to thrive!
